CEMETERY

The Cemetery is currently being upgraded with shade trees, screening shrubs and rose gardens.

The oldest recorded burial is George Lovelock 4/12/1853, 10 years before the current church was built and one year before the Aldinga Plains Church was erected.

The cemetery also contains examples of skilled stone masons, like the slate headstones manufactured by George Sara, formerly of Willunga. George was originally from Cornwall and built many early structures in the Willunga area.

The cemetery contains a memorial to the eleven sailors who lost their lives when the Star of Greece sank during a violent storm off Port Willunga on the 13th July 1888.
